Bombay Bicycle Club
London, England
Vampire Weekend, Two Door Cinema Club, Mumford and Sons
Quirky blues-inspired riffs, electronic dance beats and soul-searching lyrics are what makes the up genre-bending Bombay Bicycle Club. The British foursome come armed with three albums and an ever growing sound. Ok, so they might not be the Beatles, but this quartet definitely know how to get people dancing (no seriously, check out their video for their track “Lights Out, Words Gone”).
Bombay Bicycle Club got their start as teenagers when Jack Steadman (lead vocals and guitar), Jamie Maccoll (guitar) and Suren de Saram (drums) began playing as The Canals in North London. After various band names and personnel changes, the quartet landed with their current moniker (named after a chain of Indian restaurants in London) and a lineup that includes Ed Nash on bass. Their big break came in 2006 when the chance to open the V Festival pulled the band onto the national stage.
The band released their debut album, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose in 2009. The indie rock album came complete with plenty of hook-driven tracks that inspires listeners to have dance parties in their desk chairs. Their 2010 sophomore release, Flaws was a turn in the folk direction, featuring a stripped down, acoustic track list peppered with covers and original tracks. For their 2011 release A Different Kind of Fix, the band plugged in their instruments and went for a more dancey vibe. Who's to say what the next album will sound like, but one thing is for certain - this band’s creative juices are flowing, we are excited to see where it will flow to next.

‘new music’ are you taking the piss?!
