Despite their recent formation as a band, the members of Dogcatcher are lucky enough to recognize the rare chemistry ignited when musicians who know their craft well manage to stumble into the same room, bringing to life an eclectic bevy of jazz-infused riffs, swooning grooves, and meandering instrumental narratives. If you aren’t familiar with Dogcatcher, that’s OK – they aren’t all that familiar with each other just yet, though you wouldn’t know it upon first listen.

Nostalgia 77 has just released a record, The Sleepwalking Society, that could easily become the big wine bar anthem of 2011. Delicious jazz arrangements surround the German vocalist Josa Piet. The music is ripe with lazy, shuffled beats, delicate jazz vocals, and lots and lots of ambience that seem to subliminally transmit the word “relaaaaax”. It’s the perfect compliment to the hip/sleepy atmosphere of your favorite neighborhood wine bar.
