August Band of the Month Winner: The Amarylas

And here’s an exclusive interview with the band:

Mitch from mySpoonful(mS): Is this your first band?
The Amarylas (TA):  Other then jamming around with friends in our hometowns, yes this is all our first serious band.

mS: What is the best show you’ve played so far?

TA:It’s a toss up between supporting Yeti or playing Vintage Festival 2011 at Southbank Centre.

mS: If you could play any venue in the world, where would you be?

TA: I grew up in a placed called Stockwood in Bristol. There was a grim park where we all used to play football (that’s soccer for Americans -editor) and on its outskirts was a row of shops, Newsagents, hairdressers and what-nots…. I would love to fill that park up and play on the roof of those shops. It was something I used to fantasize about as a kid and still do to some degree.

mS: You guys devastated the Band of the Month contest. How did you do it and what advice do you have for aspiring Band of the Month contestants?

TA:  Rally the troops, rally the miseries.

mS: What’s next for the Amarylas?

TA: Gouging away, trying to keep our heads above water, keeping the bailiffs at bay with self utilized poking sticks through the letter box, running away from debts, drinking whiskey, and most importantly writing and recording songs in our cupboards of reverie trying to forget about it all. Next song we’ll be recording is called “Self Medication” in the studio this week and we well make a video for it too so go follow us on Facebook to keep up to date and if you’re in London come to a show!
