Pomegranates
Cincinnati, Ohio
Interpol, Vampire Weekend, The Killers
Dressed to impress and backed by playful pop dynamics with a distinct dance-inspired finish, Cincinnati's Pomegranates have been hitting the road and captivating audiences eager to hear a fresh take on upbeat rock anthems.
Jumping at the opportunity to play together after both of their respective bands broke up in 2006, Jacob Merritt and Isaac Karns began writing the tracks that would put their debut EP, Two Eyes, in motion. With songs already steadily in supply, Pomegranates expanded their lineup, (which now includes members Daniel Lyon and Joey Cook) and signed with Lujo Records only a week after their debut.
While steadily releasing two EPs and three full-lengths consecutively over the past four years, the boys caught the eye of the band Islands who stole them away to open for their full US tour. Such high profile spots opening up for Islands, Peter Bjorn and John, and Spoon, found the quartet recipients of generous media attention, doubly enhanced by the accessibility of their smooth pop melodies and gyrating beats.
Currently touring in support of their latest critically acclaimed effort, One of Us, Pomegranates are keeping up the momentum of their non-stop recording and touring schedule since Merritt and Karns first put songs to tape back in '06. Take a listen and you'll quickly find out what all the buzz is about.

Definitely love this song! With the upbeat rhythm and bright sounds, you can’t help but want to dance or bob your head to the beat.

What a fun band- they should come to San Francisco soon…!
Nice instrumentals on this track.
Definitely noticed the Interpol vs. Vampire Weekend blend.
Great listen! Love the new look Spoonful!
is it me or does this song kind of remind you of the beatles? the vocals, not the melodies.
CINCINNATI REPRESENT!!!!
You have to respect some good art coming out of there…it’s not easy…I would know
One of the guitar effects in this song reminds me of a song in super mario bros. 3… i think the song after you defeat the boss in the flying airship and fall to the ground.
